About Us

The Academy is more than just a training program—it’s a movement to redefine how we care for and develop dogs. Unlike traditional daycares or quick-fix approaches, we put unparalleled focus on truly understanding and building each individual dog. By addressing their unique needs, personalities, and challenges, we create a tailored environment where they can thrive. Our mission is to unlock every dog’s full potential, offering structure, enrichment, and meaningful interactions that lead to lasting transformation. For owners, The Academy provides peace of mind, knowing their dogs are not only cared for but genuinely growing. For the industry, it sets a new standard for dog care—one where every dog’s well-being and potential are prioritized, shaping a better future for both dogs and their families.

Meet the Team

Sinead and Rachel make an incredible team, blending Sinead’s expertise in dog rehabilitation with Rachel’s background in psychology, delivering a holistic approach to transforming dogs and creating true handler and dog Unity.

Rachel Provost

Rachel has a background in human psychology and has spent the last few years co-founding and then growing a successful mental health / addiction recovery service in Liverpool. Her passion for human psychology spilled over into dogs when she took on her puppy pearl, who has not been easy to say the least.

Her passion for dogs began early, rescuing strays and working at animal shelters from being a child.

Today, she cares for three dogs: Louis, a Chihuahua; a Bullmastiff cross, who she

raised from birth along with the litter of 14 other puppies; and Pearl the GSD with significant reactivity to pretty much everything

due to genetic nerve issues.

Over the past year, Rachel has worked with top

trainers, attended seminars, and gained hands-on experience in traditional daycare and

boarding kennels setting, where she witnessed some of the downsides of the "free for all" approach for herself, and further fuelled her passion to create the structured alternative we have in "The Academy".

She continues to expand

her skills and knowledge by shadowing 121 sessions with Sinead at Unity K9, and is currently studying for her level 4 diploma in Canine Behaviour.

Sinead Sedgwick

With  hands-on experience in the world of dog training and structured walking, Sinead has dedicated her career to transforming the lives of dogs and their owners. Her passion for education and commitment to understanding canine behaviour have made her a trusted expert, especially when it comes to rehabilitating difficult dogs that others might consider "unfixable."

Sinead has worked extensively with dogs facing behavioural challenges, helping them become balanced, confident, and happy companions. Through patience, knowledge, and a deep love for the process, she finds immense joy in uncovering the potential in every dog, no matter how complex their needs.

Her first-hand experience with the pitfalls of standard day-care, where overstimulation and lack of structure often lead to more problems than solutions—motivated her to create a better alternative. At The Academy, she provides a safe, enriching, and structured environment designed to foster true growth and lasting results.

Sinead’s work isn’t just about training dogs; it’s about creating real, meaningful change for dogs and their families. Every dog is a new journey, and every success is a testament to her unwavering dedication to the craft
